日本語能力試験
Japanese Language Proficiency Test

Organized by Japan Foundation & Japan Education Exchanges & Services (JEES) conducted by the Japanese Cultural Society of   Singapore.

The objective of the test is to let Japanese language students know their level of proficiency as well as to enhance their enthusiasm for the learning of the language for mutual understanding among nations.

The test is made up of different sections:

General Information

Please read information carefully before you register for the test.

  1. Registration is available online only. Registration will be open from 21 September at 9am.
  2. Application is open to those residing in Singapore only.
  3. Registration is open from 21 - 27 September 2020 on a first-come-first-served basis.  There will be a limit on the number of candidates for the test. Registration may close early if the maximum number of candidates is reached before the closing date.

            Number of candidates for the test levels is limited to : 

N 1 : 30 N 2 : 34 N 3 : 21 N 4 : 67 N 5 : 30

Refusal of Entry

Examinees will be denied entry into the test centre if:

  1. They do not wear a mask.
  2. Their temperature exceeds 37deg c.
  3. They are late for the test.

In such cases, examnees will not be entitled any refund of the test fees paid.

Online Registration / Test Fee / Cancellation

  1. Registration is available online only.
  2. Opens for ONE WEEK from 21 - 27 September 2020 on a first-come-first-served basis. Registration will officially open on 21 September 2020 from 9am.
  3. Test Fee: N 1 = $150  / N 2 = 150  /  N 3  = $150  / N 4 = $130   /  N 5 = $130
  4. An administrative fee of $50 on change of level applies. Test fee is strictly non-transferable.

Cancellation

Should the test be cancelled due to circumstances beyond control of the organizers (such as Covid19), test fee will be refunded after a deduction of $50 for administrative expenses.

This is your guide to filling up the application form. You may encounter problems registering if you do not download the test guide.

Points to note:

    1. As a rule, applicant is not allowed to register for more than one level of the test.
    2. The 'address' that you provide on your online application will serve as your 'mailing address' for both your test voucher and your score report. Only local (Singapore) addresses will be accepted. If there is any change in your address, please send an email to jlpt@jcss.org.sg to update the detail. (Tentative date for mailing of Test voucher: early November / Tentative date for mailing of Score Report: February.)
    3. Please download the Test Guide before you proceed to register online
    4. You are required to download "Confirmation of Online Submission" Form and email to jlpt@jcss.org.sg within 3 days after you submit your application online to complete your registration.

    6. Payment must be made online. Your application will not be processed if we do not receive your payment.
    7. Your Test voucher together with a test notice & map of the test centre will be mailed to you 3 weeks before the test date. Please ensure that your mailing address is correct.
